Trapped

by Sarah Dolan, March 11, 2009

I long to step outside of myself
Towards the vision of something free
I lift an arm, a leg, a hand–oh to move so gracefully
Yet my mind is chained to earthly things
Imperfections who beg to hold me down
Hurting. Bleeding.
My bruised image falls to the ground
A silent surrender, guised as sleep
I lost my motivation to be free
An unnoticed passage through time
While I lay trapped, inside my own body
A dream crossed my slumbered state
Movement. Airiness. Plight.
A desire to rise, be free
Overcame me that night
Not by man’s might, but through God’s power
My dream became real

In the Spirit there is freedom

Arise and dance
To new heights we abound
To level that can only be paved by grace
